Which Language Apps Have Punjabi? 17 Apps Checked (October 2026)

By Simranjeet Aulakh·October 25, 2026·8 min read

Does Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, Busuu or Mondly have Punjabi? No. Pimsleur, uTalk, Mango (Pakistani only), Ling, Bluebird, Memrise (community lists) and Alfaazo do. A checked yes/no table of 17 apps and tutor sites, with the Punjabi variety and script each one teaches.

Seven apps teach Punjabi in 2026 — Alfaazo, Pimsleur, uTalk, Ling, Mango Languages (Pakistani Punjabi only), Bluebird and Memrise (user-made lists) — plus live tutors on italki and Preply. The biggest names mostly don't: Duolingo has no course that teaches Punjabi to English speakers (its September 2026 course teaches English from Punjabi), and Babbel, Rosetta Stone, Busuu, Mondly, Drops, Clozemaster and Glossika don't offer Punjabi at all. We checked every app's current language list in October 2026. Here is the full table, then the detail on each.

Does Duolingo Have Punjabi?

Not for learners of Punjabi. On 7 September 2026 Duolingo launched "Learn English from Punjabi", a free course that teaches English to Punjabi speakers through the Gurmukhi script — its second North Indian base language after Hindi. There is still no course that teaches Punjabi to English speakers, and Duolingo has not announced one. We cover what the new course is and isn't in Does Duolingo have Punjabi?

Does Babbel Have Punjabi?

No. Babbel teaches 14 languages — Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Danish, Dutch, Indonesian, Norwegian, Polish, Swedish, Turkish and English — and no South Asian language at all.

Does Rosetta Stone Have Punjabi?

No. Rosetta Stone's 25 languages include Hindi, Persian and Arabic, but not Punjabi or Urdu.

Does Busuu Have Punjabi?

No. Busuu covers 14 languages (Spanish, Japanese, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Korean); Punjabi is not among them.

Does Mondly Have Punjabi?

No. Mondly's 41 languages include Hindi, Urdu and Bengali, which makes the absence of Punjabi — spoken by more people than Urdu's native speakers in several diaspora countries — especially frustrating.

Does Pimsleur Have Punjabi?

Yes. Pimsleur Punjabi is a single level of 30 half-hour audio lessons (about 16 hours) in Eastern Punjabi as spoken in India. It is speaking-and-listening only; a short Gurmukhi reading introduction comes at the end of Lesson 30. The first lesson is free.

Does Mango Languages Have Punjabi?

Yes, but only Pakistani Punjabi. Mango lists "Punjabi (Pakistani)", written in Shahmukhi — there is no Indian/Gurmukhi course. If your public library subscribes to Mango (many in North America do), you can use it free with your library card.

Does uTalk Have Punjabi?

Yes — both varieties. uTalk sells "Punjabi (Indian)" in Gurmukhi and "Punjabi (Pakistani)" in Shahmukhi, each with over 2,500 native-recorded words and phrases across 60+ topics, plus a free starter topic.

Does Ling Have Punjabi?

Yes. Ling's Punjabi course introduces Gurmukhi step by step, then builds vocabulary through dialogues, flashcards and quizzes. A limited free tier is available; full access is $16.99 a month or $89.99 a year.

Does Memrise Have Punjabi?

Partly. Memrise has no official Punjabi course. Its "Learn Punjabi" page offers word lists created by other users — some with clear native audio, many abandoned — so preview before you commit.

Drops, Clozemaster, Glossika and Bluebird

Drops (visual vocabulary), Clozemaster (fill-the-gap sentences, 50+ languages) and Glossika (sentence drilling, 64 languages) all include Hindi but not Punjabi. Bluebird Languages does include Punjabi among its 164 languages, with free, ad-free daily audio lessons.

Why Do the Big Apps Skip Punjabi?

Punjabi has well over 100 million speakers — around 150 million if you count both Pakistan's Western Punjabi and India's Eastern Punjabi — which makes it one of the ten most spoken languages on Earth. But it comes in two scripts (Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi), it is tonal, and the paying diaspora in Canada, the UK and the US is large but spread thin. Big platforms chase the biggest markets first, so Punjabi learners are left to specialist apps.

So What Should You Use?

For most people in the diaspora the answer is Alfaazo for the script and everyday speech (free, Gurmukhi from day one), Pimsleur or Bluebird for audio in the car, and a tutor once you have the basics. For Pakistani Punjabi, Mango through your library or uTalk. We compare all of them in the best apps to learn Punjabi in 2026.
